Snow Day

A few weekends ago we took a day and went with some friends up to Snoqualmie summit and went sledding and played in the snow.

The kids loved it for the most part. It was very cold and we got out there late in the afternoon so the children ended up not making it very long.

But we still had fun! (and kept somewhat 'warm')

Christmas 2012

Christmas 2012 has come and gone. I would have blogged sooner but blogger was having issues with their photo uploading for a while and I didn't want to have to come back later to insert the pics.

We had a fairly low key Christmas. We stayed home as usual. Hyrum had a couple of friends come by in the morning to open some gifts, then he went home with them to open gifts and play.

Later in the afternoon my friend and her two children came over and we exchanged gifts. Then the Sister Missionaries came over and we ate our Christmas meal and they used our computers to Skype their families.

Over the last several months (as I've gotten some energy back and have gotten use to two children) I've become 'creativly ambitious.'

Maybe it was the amount of time spent browsing pinterest while I was sick and pregnant with Adalyn, but I crave projects... painting, decorating, crafting, sewing.

Because of this, I decided to make homemade stockings for our family.

Pictured above (and below) are the finished products. I will admit, I didn't actually complete them until about 11pm Christmas Eve but I did it!

These stockings are my first ever solo sewing project!

I was pretty proud of myself. Next Christmas I will be able to hang them on our wall and actually enjoy them.

Santa brought Hyrum a trampoline and big boy bike.

Adalyn loved her new little toys and bedding to go in her crib in Hyrum's room.

The Tree 2012

We decided to try something a little different this year.

Instead of going to our usualy U-Cut tree farm, we purchased a $10 permit and went up into the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest to search out our Christmas tree.

I was expecting it to be cold because our winter has come and has been in the 30's 50's for about a month now.. So I made sure to pack extra warm stuff for Adalyn and made sure Hyrum had a hat and jacket.

We got loaded up and picked up Spencer and Ian and headed out.

I wasn't expecting snow for some reason but there was plenty of it once we got high enough up so some of us were really cold.

Regardless of the snow, we all had a great time and a fun adventure.!

The Dress and other things.

Our good friend Fadoua made Adalyn's blessing gown.! I know I've said it a hundred times already, but I love the dress so much, and I think that it is so awesome that I must remind you who made it!

This morning I squeezed Adalyn into her dress to get some pictures! she was getting very tired and hungry and I don't have a great camera or awesome photography skills, so these photos will have to do!

The past three months happenings

What has been going on in the Leiser household? Well, let me fill you in on the most basic of happenings.

These first three events all happened in a one week time frame..

August 31st Ricky had Surgery!

Ricky injured his shoulder at work one day a year prior (during the time I had surgery to remove my gal bladder). He had many rounds of physical therapy, two cortisone shots, massage therapy, and monthly check up. None of it worked.

After none of these things worked he was sent to some specialists and it was decided that he needed to have a 'Mumford' (?) procedure. Basically, they made a slice in his shoulder and then shaved off some arthritic bone.

I think he is just about recovered from it. He was a pain in the... shoulder during the first few recovery weeks, particularly the first 3 days!

Adalyn was blessed in church two days after Rickys surgery. It was nice to have lots of friends, family, non-members come to church with us for this special occasion.

I had originally purchased a blessing dress for Adalyn from church distribution. then my good friend decided to make a special dress for her to wear! I feel aweful that I dont have tons of pictures of it laying around.. I will have to take some tomorrow (wishful thinking) and add them to the blog later.

Four days after Adalyn's blessing, our little man Hyrum turned 4 yrs old! Our rockstar had to have a rockstar party.

THEN, Hyrum started preschool! He loves it. He asks every day if it's time for school. He only goes twice a week and wishes he could go every day.

Every Tuesday and Thursday upon picking him up from school I ask him how school was and what he did in class that day.

His response has been the same every time, "ummm I learned to play and to color!" That is always his first response and sometimes he will follow up with a few other things.

Preschool is going to get me in trouble with Santa Clause.... at school they have a pet turtle.. Hyrum loves to talk about this turtle and has told me about nine times now that Santa is going to give him a turtle for Christmas.. (not going to happen.. at least not until HE can clean the tank and care for such a thing.)

Then, Halloween happened. I didn't really take photos of the kids in their costumes this year.. I've gotten really horrible about taking pictures with anything other than my cell phone.

For Halloween Hyrum was a RockStar and Adalyn was a Ballerina. We attended our church Trunk-or-Treat. We ate lots of yummy homemade chili and the kiddos had fun running around and collecting candy.

We also took a trip to the pumpkin patch and went on a hayride. We didnt take enough cash for pumpkin and hayride. Hyrum chose hay ride and popcorn over a pumpkin. (good choice)

Naturally, after Halloween came Thanksgiving! We had awesome homemade turkey shirts to wear this year.

I actually cooked all of the food this year other than the meet. I forget how much time and effort that goes in to preparing all of the food and getting it ready to cook to have everything finished and hot and ready at a certain time.

This year we fed the Sisters, Elders and had my friend and her two children over. I think things turned out well except for the fact that we had soooo many leftovers! I can only eat the same food over for so many days before I need a change.. Ricky isn't picky, so I've left him to finish it all off, I'm ready to move on to 'normal' food again.
