He Turns 3

Three years ago, September 6th, 2008, Federal Way, WA at 2am my water broke and started this little mans life journey!

Hyrum Jerrold Leiser

(few minutes old)

1yr old

2yrs old

3yrs old!

What a journey it has been!

Hyrum was/has always been a pretty healthy kiddo. He never had any major illnesses, no broken bones, no trips to the ER, no collic, slept through the night by a month old.

Though he was a tiny tiney little guy at birth he has since, always topped the charts in growth at his check-ups.

He has hit all of the normal age appropriate mile stones, especially the 2 turning 3yr old tantrums.

He adds new words to his vocabulary daily and often says things that really surprise me.. not that they are bad things, he can just say things that for some reason I think he wouldn't have remembered.!

As a first time mom, for whatever reason, I forget that he can actually remember day to day life and happenings. He's a little man now who is filling his brain full of new things every day who can recall an event or person he met several weeks back!

I guess it's time for me to grow up in the mommy department along with him as well. :)

I often feel bad that our first born children are our trial and error kids.! But it's all a part of life I suppose, we live and we learn!

Things Hyrum currently loves at this 3yr old age are;

planes, trains, boats and automobiles of all kinds, shapes and sizes!
Dinosaurs,
Coloring, Drawing and Painting.
SWIMMING
Dancing
Transformers
being outside running around with other kids
 and getting dirty!

He is ALL BOY through and through.

Recently I asked Hyrum if he would like to have a brother or sister someday and he replied with:

"NO SISTERS, I don't want sister mamma, can't have sister" I then asked "ok, so you want a brother?" he said "no sister mamma, I want Caleb!"

Caleb is a friend Hyrum asks for on a daily basis and when it's been a while since he's seen his buddy he goes crazy and starts having pretend phone calls with him on my cell phone. :)

Hyrum sure does love all of his friends. He's such a busy body and it's always 'play play play.'

We wouldn't want him any other way! He has been a GREAT addition to mine and Ricky's life and we love being his mommy and daddy.!!

Canada Getaway!

Last weekend Ricky and I went to Canada for the weekend along for a quick 'getaway.'

I baught a getaway deal from livingsocial.com and I was excited to use it.

Ricky and I have gone on a vacation alone in 2yrs or so.

I had a bit of anxiety leading up to the weekend we were going to leave because I haven't spent a night away from Hyrum since our 1yr wedding anniversary!

I am with Hyrum practically 24-7, and nobody knows him better than I do so I worry that people wont understand what he is saying or know what he wants when he does certain things.

But he was fine with his Uncle Chris and Cousins, I knew he would be but I'm a mom and I'm pretty sure all moms have that anxiety when they are going to be seperated from their children and far away for a certain amount of time.

We left Friday early afternoon and headed to the border. I was really excited to get to Canada. I'd never left the country before so this getaway was a bit more exciting to me for that fact.

Our hotel was in New Westminster on the Fraser River. It's called the Inn at the Quay.

We didn't really have any plans of what to do once we got there or had things laid out to go visit or see so we mostly just walked around Vancouver, shopped, at yummy food, and watched some Cable TV! (relaxed)

About 2yrs ago we got rid of Cable TV to save some money and took over a friends clear' contract that was/is only $35 a month for internet.

Everytime I go somewhere where I am allowed free range of the remote control and cable is involved, I find myself extremely tempted to come home and shop for deals to get Cable/Dish TV.

When I was home in TX for 6weeks last year I watched every single murder mystery, investigation, real CSI, Police, first 48hr, cold case file television show that I could find.

Any way, I guess it's a good thing we don't have cable so I'm not home on my butt watching TV all day everyday.

So.. Back to the trip..

With the getaway package that I baught we got a free box of chocolates and Sparkling Cider.

It was going to come with an alcoholic beverage but we don't drink Alcohol so they gave us this sparkling Lemonade, I forgot what fruites were in it but it was too sour for me so Ricky chugged it down by himself.

The chocolates were extremely yummy and we actually got quite a bit of it in this box.

Below is a pic of the hotel we stayed in. It wasn't bad, we enjoyed it. The part I really liked was the fact that the blinds were black out blinds so when they were shut, not sun came in and the room could be totally dark!

We slept till 10am Saturday morning.. Which is a miracle for Ricky because 'sleeping in' and waking up late is 7:30am to him.

The first night we were there we just drove to down town Vancouver and walked around. We ended up eating Subway for dinner then Ricky to me to the movies at the Scotia bank movie theatre.

Guess what he took me to see!!??

Because I'm a total dork and love this stuff we went to see the 2 week theatre special of Glee 3D!

Saturday we too the Sky Train from out hotel to the downtown waterfront.

We ate dinner, then just walked around, baught some souviniers, saw some really strange people.

this pic. is of North Vancouver.

This is a steam clock, every hour it blows a steam horn like on an old steam train.

Below is a pic I took from our hotel window. I thought it was cool to see the little tugboats pulling the logs to their destination. We watch one of the logging shows on TV. (on one of the handful of TV stations we pick up)

And of course this is Ricky.. We were waiting on our food at the Paddlewheeler Pub. We ate there twice while we were in Canada.

It was right next to our hotel and the food is really good. Especially their calamari!

They had the best most flavorful calamari we have ever tasted!

So, now that I have written this really random unorganized blog post I should go to bed.

Sorry to any that read this!  :)  I'm tired and figured I should just get it finished since I've been "working" on it since Monday.

Music Man

Unlike Ricky, I absolutley LOVE music.

I can listen to music all day everyday if it were possible. Because I have practically been a stay at home mom with Hyrum since giving birth to him he has grown up listening to lots of music.

He loves to dance, and right now he has a huge thing for guitars.

I have a guitar that I have introduced to him while he was even younger and brough it out last week and he jammed along with me on his paper jamz electric guitar.

I should probably do music stuff with him more often because it is something we both absolutley enjoy and have fun doing.

He likes to play with my drum sticks and drum pad when I decide to pull them out of my closet.

Any way, our friends from Texas stopped by over the weekend to visit and stay the night with us and they took this video of Hyrum showing off his guitar playing skills!

He was so cute doing this. If his love of music continues I'm sure my dad will be one happy, thrilled PawPaw.

The other grandkids in Tx already sit and 'play' PawPaws guitar, mandolin and violin, or beg him to play for them.

DAD, looks like your grandkids are going to whoop you into shape and help you reach your goal of playing more!

Hair on End

So, after moping around about not having any thing going on and being 'stuck' at home for 2 entire days I decided to be a cool mom and do something fun and diffrent with Hyrum.

Ricky was asked to go out to work at Delta Marines property in Anacortis for 2 days and was asked to be the driver to transport the group of guys he was going to work with..

This meant he was going to be taking my car because it's nice and big.

Any way, I hate the feeling of being stuck. so I made sure there was an activity to do with Hyrum at home for those two days.

The first day I took paper and covered the entire face of our coffee table in the living room and we drew and colored all over it.

Hyrum loved it. He has a thing for markers at the moment so we colored with markers.

For the second day, I ran to WalMart after Ricky got home to grab him a few things for his lunch and dinner to take to work with him for the 2nd day and while I was there I took a look down the marker/paint/activity isle.

I ended up deciding on some finger paints. I haven't done finger painting with Hyrum yet and he's almost 3yrs old.

I was a bit of a mess and a little worried about how it would turn out because I didn't feel so comfortable with the promise of the pain being "washable."

Didn't want my carpet and furniture being ruined..

Luckily it was a success. The finger paints ARE indeed washable!

Hyrum had so much fun.. He kept saying "money, paint so fun!"
(he either calls me momom or money, he has trouble saying mommy)

I'm glad I can be the 'cool' 'fun' mom in Hyrums eyes on occasion.!

Bored.?

Life has been non stop, one thing after the other since early to mid October of 2010.

In October we hit the road and drove down to Texas so we could attend Adrienne and Coreys wedding.

Due to a sudden out of the blue anxiety to flying after having flown probably 50 times before, I ended up staying in Texas for nearly 6 weeks so Ricky wouldn't have to turn around and fly back and back the long drive back home to WA so soon.

After hitting the road after Thanksgiving to head back to WA, I had a severe gall bladder attack just north of home. (Baytown, TX)

Any way, ended up in the ER and was banned from driving for the duration of the trip because I was going to be heavily medicated all the way back to WA.

All of my regular readers know the story of that so I'm not going to spend much more time on it but that is when things started to go super crazy.

Got home to WA.. spent probably 6 days in a hospital through December, had a bad reaction to Ambian and ended up in the ER one night in Jan. and also had the gall bladder removal in Jan.

Feb. was full of follow up apointments as well as other doc. appointments

March, more doc. appointments, was pregnant so I also had OBGYN appointments and ultrasounds

Then April 3rd I was in the ER once again but this time I lost my baby,

Month of May, I had weekley doc. appointments with one of my docs. and in to June.

June came and on top of the doc. appointments I was taking a twice a week step class at Highline.

Then the rectal bleeding stuff went on, had tons of appointments with that as well as an ER visit and a colonoscopy.

Also had testing with a neurologist during this time..

End of July Adrienne and Corey came for a few days, I finished my last two days of class at this time and had lots of fun running around showing Adrienne and Corey the sights.

Now it is August.. August 1st I had my final follow up with the neurologist and that's it..

I don't have any doc. appointments this month or next month, no school, no huge meetings or places I need to go, no big things I need to do..

....after being soooo overwhelmingly busy for the last 10months and now having nothing going on all of a sudden has me in a funk..

I feel 'bored' and I don't know what to do with myself or Hyrum.

Oddly, because of this boredom I don't want to sleep.. because I have nothing big going on I feel like I'm waisting time.. So when it's night time, when I should be sleeping, and no matter how tired I am, I don't want to sleep because I feel like I haven't done anything or haven't done enough!

So, I keep myself awake.. I think of something that needs to be done, or a good movie that I 'should' watch or I just simply stay awake in bed until the wee hours of the early morning reading books, cramming my brain with 'stuff' before finally sleeping.

Am I crazy or am I crazy..?

what do you think?
