BABY it's Cold OutSide

First of all, I really shouldn't been blogging right now. I should be doing more work on my 4-6 page personal essay so I can turn in a rough draft Tuesday night.

On another note, it's cold outside! "Summer" abruptly ended what seems like three weeks after it started. Now, we are welcomed with gray, cloudy skies, and 50degree weather during the day with weather in the 40's at night.

It feels like Christmas. Forget Halloween, bring on Thanksgiving, Black Friday shopping, and a month full of Christmas decor, Christmas trees, Christmas music and a month to really pay extra close attention to our Savior.!

October through January are my favorites months of the year. Within those months are two of the best holidays of the year... and I love the cool weather.

Other updates.. School is going well. I MIGHT be able to pull off a 4.0 in ONE of my classes, something I have never accomplished in my life.

I graduated from highschool on and all C average..

The nice thing about college is the fact that nobody is making me do it, and I get to choose and decide what I learn and the order I learn it in. (i no, this makes me sound totaly stubborn!)

Other than that, Ricky and Hyrum are doing well. Hyrum continues to surprise me with things he say and learn every single day. Ricky works 6 days a week now but he actually enjoys working the 6th day for the most part because it's all over time pay.

Also, Little Leiser is still doing well as of Friday morning.

I had a second ultrasound as part of first trimester screening, which consists of 2 series of blood tests and an ultrasound.

This first ultrasound was done at 9.1 weeks.....
..and this second ultrasound was done exactly 2 weeks later at 11.1 weeks along.

Isn't amazing to see what TWO weeks of growth and development looks like in a growing baby!?

In the first ultrasound you can't hardly tell what you are looking at if it isn't pointed out to you by someone who does know.
Then two weeks later, you can look and know exactly where the head, arms, legs, eyes, mouth.... are.

also, due to the translucent skin at this point, you can sit there and watch it's heart beating on the screen.

On Friday, Ricky Hyrum and I got to sit back (lay back for me) and WATCH our little baby on the TV screen in the doctors office for nearly an entire hour while they tried to get the little one to coperate to they could get specific measurments.

Other than finding out the sex of the baby and what I am able to start it kicking and moving around, THIS is my favorite part of pregnancy.. being able to just lay back and watch the baby move around, suck it's thumb, kick and punch the inside of my uterus for about an hour is like a HUGE bonding experience to me.

I still have my anxietys about the pregnancy and talking about it on a regular basis even though the doctors that looked at it and took all of the measurments and looked it up and down and all around told me that they didnt see anything abnormal, unusual, or of wrong size, I start thinking about my friends who lost their babies at 16-18 weeks... then I just leave room for "What if?"

I guess in a way I'm trying to protect myself from hurting to badly if something happens.. I KNOW it's there, and within the next 2 to 3 weeks when I can no longer wear most all of my clothes, I wont be able to pretend that there isn't a baby.

I have another appointment this comming Thursday for a check-up and to listen to the babys heartbeat.

I will be 12 weeks along, then it will be 4 weeks before I have another appointment.. chances are I will have my ups and downs and my anxiety about weather or not everything is ok, but I will survive. I should start feeling baby move around during the end of those 4 weeks, and I will be continuing to grow, so I have things to look at and stay positive about..

You wanna hear something funny..? I've been sick since day one of this pregnancy.. Now that I am nearing my second trimester, the trimester where you usually feel the best, I have been feeling a lot better and not so sickly, AND I am finally eating or at least have a bit of an appatite.

That's not the funny part, this next part is...

Well, now that I am starting to feel better... on the days that I REALLY feel good, no sickness or anything, I freak myself out and worry that something is wrong because I'm not feeling sick... this leads to me having anxiety, which makes me feel sick, which makes me feel a little better that since I'm feeling sick, I'm still pregnant...

Welcome to the complicated world that is Laurie's Anxiety..

Any way, now that I have used all of this time to blog I should go jump into bed so I'm not tired tomorrow so that I can finish my paper.

Congrats on your pregnancy! How cool that all three of you got to go see the baby. We will for sure keep you in our prayers that everything goes well and as planned for this new little one.

Oh trust me, I spent the first several weeks freaking out about something going wrong. My mom miscarried her first (turned out to be a blighted ovum), and she had fertility problems to boot, so naturally I was paranoid. And yes, I freaked out whenever I felt good...ha ha ha. You are so not the only one.

My 20-week ultrasound (squee!) is on Thursday, and it will actually be the first one I've had this pregnancy. It's just how my practice does things--since I know my dates, the heartbeat has been perfect, and I've been measuring on schedule--they haven't seen a need. Surprisingly, I've been perfectly fine with it. But I am excited about finding out the sex of this baby :)
